We read the wagering clauses of nine casinos from our own accounts and translated them into dollars. What a Casino Wagering Requirement Is
A wagering requirement states how much a player has to bet before their bonus money becomes real money. The clearest definition in the Canadian market is the one the Baytree casinos publish themselves: "The Bonus amount is subject to a minimum play through (wager) of 35 times (35x) by you before it can be transferred from your Bonus Balance to your Cash Balance." Their own worked example finishes the lesson: deposit 100, receive a 100 credit bonus, and the requirement is 35 x 100 = 3,500.
Two structural facts follow from that clause. The multiplier applies to the bonus amount on these terms, so every C$100 of bonus accepted takes C$3,500 of play. And the balances stay separate: winnings attributed to the cash portion remain withdrawable, while the bonus balance stays locked until the play-through number clears. Accepting a bonus is like renting a second wallet with its own rules attached.
The Three Wagering Requirement Models in Canada

The 200x row in that table was written by the casinos themselves: the Casino Rewards terms price a $100 bonus at "approximately $20,000" of play. That is the multiplier sitting behind Canada's cheapest-looking bonus offers, the wheel-chances deals included, and it is why our group review calls their biggest match their biggest trap. The same group's third-deposit tier at 30x is genuinely the cheapest bonus in the family to clear, which shows how much the multiplier, and nothing else, decides the price.
Game Weighting: Which Bets Count Toward Wagering
The multiplier is only half the price, because the casinos also discount how much each game contributes toward it. The Baytree table weights every game differently: slots count 100%, with NetEnt titles at 50%; table pokers, roulettes and most blackjacks count 8%; classic blackjacks and certain video pokers count 2%; and baccarat, craps, Sic Bo and all progressive jackpots count 0%. The Casino Rewards table weights them differently again, and more bluntly: slots 100% with progressive jackpots included, and nearly everything else at 2% or nothing.
Those zeros are load-bearing for the casinos. At Baytree, progressive jackpot slots contribute nothing toward wagering, and in exchange the terms exempt progressive wins from two of the three withdrawal caps. At Casino Rewards, jackpot spins do clear a bonus, but jackpot wins then queue behind a $4,000 weekly cap with no exemption at all. The same games, opposite philosophies, and both printed in the document most players skip.
The weighting table also hides what is arguably the sharpest clause in either document: play the 0% games before the requirement is finished and "you agree that the casino holds the right to void any winnings made from these games." A bonus does not simply slow your withdrawal down. Played on the wrong table, it can erase the win itself.
The Wagering Clauses That Catch People
The max bet. While a bonus is active, bets are capped at EUR 8 per round in the Baytree terms. Bets above it, or single bets of 30% or more of the bonus, count as irregular play, and irregular play voids winnings.
The clocks. Offers must be claimed within 7 days, unused match bonuses expire after 2 months, and daily-spin extras expire 30 days after the last deposit. A requirement you cannot finish in time is a bonus you paid for and never received.
The group clause. Claiming a welcome bonus at a sister casino adds an extra minimum play-through first, and both big groups run four storefronts each. An unclaimed match bonus can still be reversed out by support if nothing has been wagered, which is the one exit the documents offer.

How to Actually Handle Wagering Requirements
Three honest strategies exist for a player who wants one. The first is to take the smallest bonus at the lowest multiplier and finish it on 100%-weighted slots, treating the turnover as the price. The second is to take no bonus at all, since cash play carries no requirements, no max bet and no voiding clauses, and every casino accepts a plain deposit. The third is to chase the jackpots at the Baytree casinos on cash deliberately, because a 0% weighting is there for a reason: those bonuses were never built for jackpot chasing. The fourth strategy, the one the search results sell you, is beating the requirement, and that never works, because the requirement is arithmetic and arithmetic does not lose.

How do you beat casino wagering requirements?
You do not. The math is the product and it always favours the house. What you can do is refuse the bad multipliers: a $150 bonus costs $5,250 in turnover at 35x and $30,000 at 200x, and the same casinos will sell you both. Take the smallest bonus with the lowest multiplier, bet only on 100%-weighted games, or decline the bonus altogether and play cash, which carries no requirements at all.
What is a fair wagering requirement in Canada?

Anything at or below 35x is normal, and any multiplier in treble digits deserves the arithmetic before you click accept.
